FIND YOUR FIRE 2024 REFLECTION CHALLENGE

CAMPAIGN QUESTION TO REFLECT AND SHARE:

“What is your Fire? What is it that motivates you and gives you meaning and hope in your life and the world? Is it friends and family or your community? Is it your love of the arts and music? Do you find strength and guidance in your faith? Do you enjoy the outdoors and find connection with nature and it’s beauty? Maybe your drive to knowledge and learning is your motivation. For many, helping others and service and having a purpose beyond their own helps them find that Fire. For some their Fire or the Light that shines in the darkness is hard to describe in words, but in order to find hope and human connection discovering that Fire or Light to guide us is key to hope and happiness.”

FIND YOUR FIRE 2024
SELF REFLECTION

“FIND YOUR FIRE” is a project of self reflection with a personal goal to set aside time to focus on self and family and pursue some individual projects and interests. Upon receiving this year's grant approval, my immediate reaction was to continue on at full speed with the momentum of Tacoma Light Trail and 2023's grant, and continue to reach out actively and publicly to get others involved. The energy and impact has been very positive, but it had made for a very busy year and it seemed more reasonable to take a step back and focus more on some personal goals and catch up on some overdue requests.

I would like to challenge everyone to spend some time reflecting on the campaign question while finding ways to be creative and more mindful.  I plan to work on a few of my own projects and creative ideas as well as promote this idea and creative emphasis by volunteering with local organizations and finding my own balance and Fire! Throughout the past year's journey, I have been able to connect with a few programs that have aligned with several aspects of my past life and areas that have always been a passion beyond the glass arts. Thanks to a connection with some of these other community partnerships, even with change the possibilities are many!

I have found another way to fire it forward with these programs and gain a better perspective on many personal levels without becoming overwhelmed or compromising my own values or energy.  The vision behind Fire It Forward was to share and find hope and healing in glass art and a connection to my community.

Though the direction of Fire it Forward is moving away from the frequency and the broad use of social media interactions and open studios, that had been our program in the past.  I still welcome individual inquiries and will set aside time to offer one-on-one lessons and projects and we will continue with the partnerships and commitments in place. There will be a handful of opportunities to host a few mobile fusion glass workshops at locations and I still welcome the individual questions and inquiries for one on one instruction or special projects or events.

Feel free to send a message through MORE INFO tab below for those types of inquirers.

The hope is to interact with other artists, and their families and capture and use that time in whatever way it is expressed and the moment takes us.

I encourage you to take a moment and self reflect and Find Your Fire!

Individual questions and inquiries can be sent below.

Past Projects

Fire it Forward participated in Tacoma Light Trail this year with a multi glass art media piece using fusion glass art to accent and create light reflection, lamp-worked sculptured pieces to create different themes, and various blow hot glass to compliment and provide more illuminated art. We created a Japanese style lantern piece that has three separate themed sections that are installed on top of one another to create one larger lantern.

Fire it Forward has had the opportunity to reach many different people in the last year. This includes individual artists and art enthusiasts, families, and groups that have all attended workshops and experience classes and participated in many of the local projects and events with our new community partners and supporters. We wanted to create a unique piece that represented some of the major highlights of the year and our projects. This includes three themes: Butterfly Garden, Oceans and Our Waters, and finally Fire.

To learn more about the contributions to each section of the lantern click the button above. You can also see the lantern in person as well at Zeek's Pizza in Downtown Tacoma!
